Whitewater Teacher Becomes VP of Marketing Education for GACTE

Krystin Glover, a Whitewater High’s marketing teacher has been selected by the membership of the Georgia Association for Career and Technical Education (GACTE) to serve on the board of directors as vice-president of the Marketing Education division. Her term will be for two years.

Peachtree City Civic Association to hold Neighborhood Forum, tonight

Peachtree City and the Peachtree City Civic Association (PTCCA) will hold a neighborhood forum entitled, “Empower Your Neighborhood,” on Saturday, October 2, 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m., in Council Chambers at City Hall. 

It is possible that a quorum of the City Council could attend the forum. 

WinShape Ride for the Family begins Tomorrow

The WinShape Ride for the Family is a week-long motorcycle ride led by Chick-fil-A’s president and COO Dan T. Cathy and senior vice president, Don “Bubba” Cathy. The Cathy brothers and motorcyclists from across the U.S. will participate in the Ride to draw attention to the need to make family a priority, and aim to inspire communities to strengthen marriages and families.

Whitewater Teachers Recieve Free Makeovers

The Avenue, has partnered with schools throughout metro Atlanta to implement fashion marketing principles while rewarding teachers with THE STYLE upGRADE.  With more than 60 percent of the votes received, Whitewater High School teachers Mrs. Wolf and Mrs. Mullen were each selected to win a $1,000 makeover package, including wardrobe, hair, makeup and other prizes from The Avenue.

Controlled Burn at Falcon Field, Thursday

After a four month burn ban, the Peachtree City Fire Department and the Georgia Forestry Commission will hold a controlled burn on Thursday, September 30, at Atlanta Regional Airport – Falcon Field. The burn will begin at 1:00 p.m.

Call the Fire Department at 770-631-2526 with any concerns.

The state-mandated ban on outdoor burning ends on Thursday, September 30.  Residents must obtain a burning permit at www.peachtree-city.org/burnpermit. The page will indicate if burning is allowed on a specific day based on weather conditions and provide the instructions and rules for outdoor burning.   

Peachtree City Crime Rates Among Lowest in GA

According to The Peachtree City Police Department is pleased to announce that the FBI has published the 2009 Uniform Crime Report(UCR) and Peachtree City has the lowest crime rate for Class B cities in the State of Georgia. 

Commission Appointment Meeting at City Hall

The Selection Committee for Planning Commission will meet at 2:40 pm. on Monday, October 4, 2010, in the small conference room at City Hall, 151 Willowbend Road, Peachtree City.  The purpose of the meeting is to interview the candidates for appointment to the Commission.

The committee will discuss and make a recommendation about the appointment following the interviews.  The public is invited to attend.
