(WXIA) -- Pike Nurseries plans to hire about 300 employees for the upcoming spring planting season.

The nursery chain will hold a career fair Wednesday, Mar. 4 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at all its Georgia locations.

Open positions include manager trainees, department heads, sales associates, operations personnel and cashiers. Planting enthusiasts of all skill levels are encouraged to apply.

Race this weekend: Trinity Trail Run

PEACHTREE CITY, Ga. -- Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Peachtree City will hold a 5K and 2K fundraiser this weekend.

The Trinity Trail Run will be Saturday, Feb. 28 at the church. Race day registration and packet pick-up opens at 6:30 a.m., and the run will start at 8 a.m. Participants are asked to park at nearby McIntosh High School.

All runners will receive T-shirts and a post-race breakfast of pancakes and tamales. Extra awards will be given to the top three male and female 5K runners in each age group.

Registration is $25 in advance or $30 on race day. Proceeds will go to several Catholic youth programs, including EDGE and Life Teen Summer Camp, CHWC Grenada, and Steubenville Atlanta.

Georgia Lottery launches new Georgia-only lotto game

ATLANTA – The Georgia Lottery is introducing an exciting new game that will be available only in Georgia. Jumbo Bucks Lotto with Ca$h Match combines a classic lotto draw game with an instant-win component.

The game concept is the first of its kind in Georgia.

Jumbo Bucks Lotto with Ca$h Match offers jackpots starting at $1 million. The jackpot will continue to grow until there is a jackpot winner.

Additionally, players can select Ca$h Match for a chance to win up to $500 instantly.

Jumbo Bucks Lotto with Ca$h Match went on sale at Georgia Lottery retailers statewide Sunday.

Drawings will be held at 11 p.m. on Mondays and Thursdays. The first drawing will be conducted Feb. 23.

Tickets are $1 per play. The Ca$h Match option costs an additional $1 per play.

Players must pick six numbers from one to 47. Win the jackpot prize by matching the six numbers drawn. The game offers three additional lotto prizes from $5 to $500.

Piedmont Newnan Hospital to host caregiver workshop

NEWNAN, Ga. – Piedmont Newnan Hospital’s Sixty Plus Services will host a workshop “Caregiving for Loved Ones With Dementia” on Wednesday, Mar. 11 from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. The workshop will address the types and stages of dementia, community resources, financial and legal concerns, communication techniques and the role of medications in managing challenging behaviors.

“We know that caregivers can easily and quickly find themselves dealing with an enormous amount of stress. The goal of this workshop is to provide them with the right tools and resources to help ease the tremendous pressure they’re under, as well as those very common feelings of grief and isolation,” said Tori Sorrells, coordinator of Sixty Plus Services at Piedmont Newnan Hospital.

Ga. Connections Academy enrollment opens Mar. 3

(WXIA) -- Georgia Connections Academy, a free statewide virtual K-12 school, will begin accepting applications for the 2015-16 school year next month.

Enrollment opens Mar. 3. The school can support 4,000 students; spaces are limited and families are encouraged to apply as soon as possible.

A free parent information session will be held Tuesday, Mar. 10 at 6 p.m. at the Hampton Inn Atlanta-Perimeter Center, which is located at 769 Hammond Drive in Sandy Springs. Teachers and currently enrolled families will answer questions and go over the school's curriculum at the session.

Peachtree City Police Chief shooting turned over to D.A.

PEACHTREE CITY, Ga. -- More than a month after the police chief in Peachtree City called 911 to say he'd shot his wife, the case is now before the District Attorney. The GBI has been spearheading the investigation and confirmed the case was turned over to the Feyette County District Attorney Friday afternoon.

According to the GBI, Chief William E. McCollom called 911 on January 1st after he accidentally shot his wife. According to that call, he shot her in the back while they were in the couple's bedroom. Maragret McCollom was originally hospitalized in serious condition, but improved and was released January 12.

She told GBI investigators she was asleep when the shooting occurred and could not provide any more information. She did state she believes is was all an accident.

Weekend roadwork: Signs around the Perimeter

(WXIA) -- The Georgia Department of Transportation will continue to perform sign structure work on Interstate 285 this weekend.

Most of the projects will require lane closures, which could result in lengthy delays. Drivers are asked to avoid the Perimeter in impacted areas if possible.

All work is weather permitting.

Scheduled projects include:

Cobb County
1 lane of I-75 in each direction will be closed between Delk Road and South Marietta Parkway from 7:30 a.m. Saturday to 5:30 p.m. Sunday for sign structure work.

Coweta County
1 northbound lane of I-85 will be closed from 2 miles north of Bullsboro Drive from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly for striping.

DeKalb County
2 westbound lanes of I-285 will be closed between Northlake Parkway and Chamblee Tucker Road from 7:30 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday for sign structure work.
