Georgia Mountians Center hosts ReadyFest

On Monday, September 20th, the Georgia Mountains Center (301 Main Street SW, Gainesville) will host ReadyFest, a community preparedness event designed to encourage Americans to take simple steps to prepare for emergencies in their homes, businesses and communities. This event is sponsored by The National Weather Service in Peachtree City and the Georgia and Hall County Emergency Management offices.

ReadyFest is part of the 7th Annual National Preparedness Month activities that are held every September, and officially sponsored by the Ready Campaign and Citizen Corps.

Speakers will be coming from a number of agencies including: the Georgia State Insurance Commissioner’s Office, Georgia Emergency Management Agency, the National Weather Service, the Public Health Department and the Georgia Department of Transportation.

Attendees will receive valuable local emergency preparedness information about the types of emergencies that can happen, how to make emergency supply kits and family emergency plans, and how to support the community’s emergency preparedness efforts.
