NORCROSS, Ga. -- Marble Slab Creamery and MaggieMoo's Ice Cream and Treatery will join forces as a single brand to become the second largest super-premium ice cream concept in the United States.

Norcross-based GFG Management LLC, which owns the two chains, said the new concept will take the Marble Slab Creamery name and will include elements of both Marble Slab Creamery and MaggieMoo's including both brands' most popular flavors and ice cream products such as MaggieMoo's MaggieMia's Ice Cream Pizza and MaggieMoo's Ice Cream Cupcakes.

Marble Slab Creameries will begin remodeling to a new brand design that includes a more playful, contemporary environment the companies said. Several MaggieMoo's Ice Cream and Treatery locations will convert to Marble Slab Creamery's new look in the upcoming months.

The transition period is expected to last 18 months, with some MaggieMoo's Ice Cream and Treatery locations expected to remain with the MaggieMoo's brand.

Marble Slab has 376 locations in the United States (Georgia locations include McDonough and Peachtree City, with another scheduled to open in Brookhaven), Bahrain, Canada, Kuwait, Lebanon, Mexico, Oman, Scotland and United Arab Emirates. MaggieMoo's has 126 stores, including one in Acworth.

GFG Management's other managed brands are Great American Cookies, Pretzelmaker, Pretzel Time, TAF and Shoebox New York.
