Preparing for Taxageddon: Interstate Tax Strategies is Helping Atlanta Disarm Tax Time Bombs

With the United States’ growing unemployment rate and rising deficit, state governments have become very aggressive at finding additional tax revenue. They are actively looking for companies that they can audit and assess for back taxes. According to Internet Retailer, e-commerce rose 14.8% in 2010, creating a golden opportunity to help states, including Georgia, supplement their income. More and more local businesses are hearing the word “nexus” brought into play, leaving a thin line in sales tax obligations. Regardless of the industry, companies with customers in multiple states should carefully evaluate the tax filing requirements and the tax rules where their customers are located.

UNION CITY, Ga. -- Who knew that a little hand-painted chair could do so much good?

The Children's Village at Christian City is gearing up for its fifth annual Children's Chair-ity Event, a holiday auction that raises money for the disadvantaged kids who live in the cottages at the Union City-based assisted living home.

Items for auction include chairs crafted and painted by local artists -- hence the name of the event. Children's Village residents also paint chair-shaped Christmas tree ornaments for the auction, and sponsoring businesses offer great prizes and deals to the highest bidders. More than 60 local businesses sponsor the event, including Georgia Power, Nestlé Purina and Global Aviation Holdings.
