PEACHTREE CITY, Ga. -- A Peachtree City Great Clips plans to host a charity day for The Children's Village at Christian City.

From 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 17, all proceeds from $9.99 haircuts at the Great Clips on Highway 54 (Publix shopping center) will directly help local children in need.

The salon will also accept donations of money and certain necessities, including:

* Gift cards to Walmart, Target, Kroger, Publix, etc.
* Paper towels, napkins, toilet paper
* Canned fruit, vegetables, pasta
* Individually wrapped snacks
* Drinks (juice boxes, etc.) for lunches
* Peanut butter and jelly
* Shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste
* Personal hygiene products

Interested parties can choose to sponsor a Children's Village resident. For $30 a month, sponsors will receive a photo, a profile and regular updates.

Donations to Graceland Thrift Shop are also warmly welcomed, as proceeds help to pay for the education of kids who live in the Children's Village cottages.

Union City-based Christian City has cared for more than 1,000 abused and abandoned children in a family-centered residential setting since 1965. Young residents live in cottages and interact with full-time house parents.
