Peachtree City Recreation Department to rent out office

PEACHTREE CITY, Ga. – The Peachtree City Recreation Department office is up for rent. The office space was advertised to, ideally, be rented out to “small businesses, home-based entrepreneurs and anyone else look for an affordable place to meet with clients and conduct business”.

Two rooms are available between 8AM and 5PM, Monday through Friday for a fee of $35 per hour.

According to the Fayette Citizen, “Audiovisual equipment is also available to be used in the rental rooms. A laptop computer is available at $35 per rental period; an LCD projector is available at $50 per rental period and a DVD/TV on a cart can be rented for $50 per rental period”.

Lower level of library closed for repairs

PEACHTREE CITY, Ga. – Effective April 12, the lower level entrance of the Peachtree City Library will be closed for repairs.

The building has suffered some cracks in that area, which will be barricaded for safety reasons until repairs are completed. 

Please use the main entrance to the Library upstairs until further notice.

ATLANTA – In effort to revive their customer base, Walmart is “re-invigorating” their price leadership promise.

According to Walter Woods of Cohn and Wolfe, “Walmart is putting the customer at the center of everything and taking specific steps to deliver one-stop shopping to its customers.”

Walmart is increasing their competitive checks to offer lower prices on many items. They’re also partnering with different suppliers to lower the cost per item on many of their items.

In additon to those changes, the company is bringing back its “Ad Match” policy, making it easier for customers to actually see their savings.

The 2011 crowing of Miss Georgia Latina and Miss Teen Georgia Latina will be held on Saturday, April 9, 2011, at the Americas Mart, Building 3 in downtown Atlanta beginning at 5:00 PM.Tickets to the event are $25.00 and can be purchased online prior to the event or $35.00 the day of the event.


Miss Teen Georgia Latina and Miss Georgia Latina will recognize young girls from the ages of 14 - 16 and young ladies ages 18 - 27 who embody beauty, style and personal development allowing the opportunity to compete in a pageant that welcomes their Latin, Caribbean and Iberian heritage.

PTC water announce Lake McIntosh burning

PEACHTREE CITY, Ga. – (submitted by Peachtree City Updates) Beginning this week, the Fayette County Water System will begin burning Lake McIntosh.

Fayette County has advised that the contractor will begin burning this week through April 30, conditions permitting. Any remaining burning will resume October 1 when the state outdoor burning ban is lifted. 

Fayette County indicates the type of burning they are doing, which is on the Coweta County portion of the property, should not create problems with smoke. Residents who do have complaints about smoke should contact the Fayette County Water System at 770-461-1146 or water@fayettecountyga.gov .

New building permit fees to go into effect

PEACHTREE CITY, Ga. -- On February 17, 2011, the Council of Peachtree City adopted a new fee structure for Peachtree City’s building and inspection permits. The fees will go into effect for all permits obtained on April 4, 2011 or later. 

Peachtree City requires a building permit to construct, enlarge, alter, repair, move, demolish, or change the occupancy of a building or structure. Individual permits are also required when changing any electrical, gas, mechanical, or plumbing system, replacing siding or roofs, or building a fence or swimming pool.

Art in The Park McDonough Square this Saturday

This Saturday, April 2nd, come and enjoy Art in The Park on the Square in McDonough.  Artist from all venues will be there. It is a fun day from 12n - 5p with free admission.  Try your hand at learning to paint or just enjoy the beauty created by others.  Artist Jeff Hunter said, " We encourage learning, we always have a couple of paint brushes and canvas around."  You maybe surprised at what you can do with a little guidance.
