Teen arrested for Kedron Field House arson

PEACHTREE CITY, Ga. -- A 19-year-old Palmetto man was arrested Thursday for setting two fires at the Kedron Field House and Aquatic Center in Peachtree City.

The fires were first discovered at around 6:20 a.m. Thursday by Aquatic Center employees who arrived to prepare for a swim meet, according to Peachtree City Police Capt. Rosanna Dove.

Dove said the employees noticed smoke damage and saw that the center's sprinkler system had been activated. Investigators determined that one of the fires had been started behind the reception desk in the lobby, while the other had been set in a storage room. Both fires were started with the help of "ignitable liquid," according to Dove.

Police used surveillance video to identify the suspect as Robert Earl Striggles. Dove said Striggles works for the janitorial company that cleans Kedron Field House at night.

Striggles was arrested in Palmetto and processed through the Fayette County Jail. He faces charges of burglary and arson.
