3 teens arrested for Walmart hijacking

PEACHTREE CITY, Ga. -- Three 16 year olds have been arrested and charged with stealing a car at gunpoint from the parking lot of the Peachtree City Walmart.

The robbery happened at around 2:30 p.m. Saturday, when one of the suspects pointed a gun at a woman and demanded her car.

Police tried to pull over the stolen car on Highway 74. When the suspect failed to stop, a high speed chase began. It ended when the suspect crashed the car while trying to exit Interstate 285 at Cascade Road, according to Peachtree City Police Lt. Mark Brown.

The driver, who lives in southwest Atlanta, is being held on a number of charges, including armed robbery, hijacking, attempting to allude, drug possession and being a member of a street gang.

His two accomplices, both of Palmetto, were later arrested and charged with armed robbery, hijacking and being members of a street gang. Brown said the two Palmetto teens dropped off the original suspect at the Walmart where he committed the robbery.

All three suspects are in custody at a regional youth detention center.
