FAYETTEVILLE, Ga. -- Fayetteville Police have arrested two people in connection with an illegal gambling operation at the Fayette Gift Shop.

The first suspect, 21-year-old Corina Venegas-Corral of Riverdale, was taken into custody during the police raid on the business on Apr. 17. Fayetteville Police spokesman Det. Mike Whitlow said she was charged with commercial gambling.

Sameer Syed, 32, of Peachtree City turned himself in on Monday. He was charged with commercial gambling and keeping a gambling place.

Whitlow said the investigation continues and more arrests are possible.

PEACHTREE CITY, Ga. -- Police have arrested a man suspected of burglarizing multiple Peachtree City businesses.

Christopher Lee Lucas faces seven counts of burglary for stealing from businesses on Highway 54 between December 2010 and January 2012.

The 38-year-old Lindale man has also been connected to a number of other crimes at businesses stretching from Rome to Columbus.

The Rome Police Department assisted Peachtree City Police with this case.

Person of interest sought after telling kids to 'get in his car'

PEACHTREE CITY, Ga. -- Peachtree City Police are looking for a man who reportedly tried to convince two children to get in his car.

The kids told police that they were waiting for their school bus at the corner of Wynnmeade Parkway and Tower Road Thursday morning when a man pulled up beside them and said to "get in the car." The children ignored him and the man drove away.

The suspect drove through the area again Friday morning, but did not say anything, according to the kids.

They described him as an older white man with brown hair and glasses. He drives a white and orange "job-type truck" with lettering on the side, according to the two children.

Anyone who can identify this person or sees a car matching the description given by the witnesses is asked to call 911 or Peachtree City Police at 770-487-8866, especially if the suspect is seen in the vicinity of a school bus stop.

Man transporting meth lab gets busted at PTC Wal-Mart

PEACHTREE CITY, Ga. – Peachtree City Police have arrested Steve McLeroy of Newnan for manufacturing methamphetamines, possession of marijuana, obstructing officers and reckless conduct.

Authorities responded to the Wal-Mart on 2717 West Highway 54 on Tuesday after they got a report of a suspect wearing a backpack and acting suspiciously inside the location.

Police met with the suspect, searched his backpack and found “ a small amount of marijuana and a home-made portable device used to manufacture methamphetamines”.

McLeroy was apprehended at the scene and is being held in the Fayette County Jail; he is awaiting bond.

ATLANTA – Last week, Peachtree City Police responded to two separate reports involving wallet theft. One wallet is believed to have been stolen from Home Depot on Highway 54 and the other from Hibbett Sports in Kedron Village. After these thefts, the perpetrator tried to use a debit card from one of the wallets at the Target store in Kedron Village.

The Peachtree City Police Department is seeking information from anyone who may have seen the person pictured above or any suspicious activity at these locations.

PTC hosts forum to learn the warning signs

PEACHTEE CITY, Ga. – Does your child have a Facebook or Twitter account? Come out and educate yourself and your family about gangs and protecting yourself on the internet. The Peachtree City Police Department, in conjunction, with the J.C. Booth Middle School will hold a community forum and educational outreach program on gangs and Internet safety.

The first part of the program will educate and assist the parents of middle school aged children with recognizing signs of gang activity, ways to identify potential gang involvement and how to quickly report problems.

The second portion of this forum will assist parents in recognizing inappropriate conduct, contact, and content that children are being exposed to on the Internet and ways to help protect them. 

The event will be held at J.C. Booth Middle School which is located at 250 Peachtree Parkway South. The event is free and all are welcomed.
