PEACHTREE CITY, Ga. -- Bestselling author Karen Kingsbury will hold a talk and book signing in Peachtree City this weekend.

Kingsbury will speak about her latest novel, The Chance, at Books-A-Million on Saturday, Apr. 13 at 3 p.m.

She is a Tennessee-based inspirational author who has written dozens of books, most of which have been bestsellers.

Peachtree City celebrates WWII Heritage Days

PEACHTREE CITY, Ga. -- Peachtree City's 10th annual WWII Heritage Days will be held later this month at Falcon Field.

Ewoud Swaak, Honorary Consel to the Netherlands for Georgia and South Carolina, will be a keynote speaker at the event, which features period aircraft and vehicles, educational displays, reenactments and family-friendly demonstrations.

This year's program will commemorate a September 1944 battle that saw 40,000 Allied paratroopers try to shorten the war by liberating a series of cities and bridges in Holland.

WWII Heritage Days will be held Saturday, Apr. 26 and Sunday, Apr. 27 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. There is a suggested $5 donation to get in; children ages 5 and under are free.

Tickets to a Keep 'em Flying Dinner and Dance at Falcon Field are $50 before Apr. 22 and $60 at the door. Call 678-654-2464 to reserve a seat.

Chamber to host Partners in Education breakfast

FAYETTEVILLE, Ga. -- The Fayette County Chamber of Commerce will hold a breakfast reception for the school district's Partners in Education later this month.

The event will be held Tuesday, Apr. 23 at 8 a.m. at Spring Hill Elementary School.

Several awards will be presented at the breakfast, including the Outstanding Business Partner of the Year, Outstanding Fayette County School and the Junior Entrepreneur Award.

Muriel Summers, principal of A.B. Combs Leadership Magnet Elementary School in Raleigh, N.C., will be the keynote speaker. A.B. Combs is the first leadership elementary school in the U.S.

Optimist Club to hold Easter egg hunt

PEACHTREE CITY, Ga. -- The Optimist Club of Peachtree City will hold an Easter egg hunt this weekend.

The event, which is co-sponsored by the Peachtree City Fire Department, will be held Saturday, Mar. 30 at Shakerag Knoll. Registration begins at 9:30 a.m., with the actual hunt scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m.

Festivities include games and visits with the Easter Bunny.

Police to receive training about sex trafficking

Police to receive training about sex trafficking

PEACHTREE CITY, Ga. -- A Fayette County-based organization that helps survivors of sex trafficking will provide training for law enforcement officials this week.

Wellspring Living will host the training at the Bridge Community Center in Peachtree City on Friday, Mar. 22.

The training is designed to teach law enforcement members how to detect and respond to signs of sexual exploitation. It is the first training of its kind in Fayette County.

Monopoly tournament registration open

PEACHTREE CITY, Ga. -- Registration is currently underway for the Peachtree City Monopoly Tournament.

The event will be held Saturday, Apr. 27 at the Dolce Atlanta-Peachtree Resort and Convention Center.

The tournament will begin with sign-in at 8:30 a.m., followed by first round play at 10 a.m. All rounds are 90 minutes long.

More than $1,000 in cash and prizes is at stake. The overall winner will receive $100, while the second place finisher gets $50, and third and fourth place finishers each earn $25. There is no entry fee.
