Just in time for Spring, the Peachtree City Home & Garden Expo comes to town

PEACHTREE CITY, Ga. -- (submitted by Ashley Alonso/PTC Parks and Rec.)  Saturday, April 16th, the Peachtree City Parks & Recreation Department will bring the inaugural Home & Garden Expo to the community. The Kedron Fieldhouse & Aquatic Center will host this event and allow us to have exhibitors both indoor and out. They are located at 202 Kedron Drive in the heart of Peachtree City from 10am – 6pm.

Ashley Alonso, Coordinator, says, “There is no other show in the area like this. We know that most people are updating homes or looking for fresh ideas, so we thought this would be the perfect opportunity for both businesses and citizens. We want to help home owners enhance your home while adding value back into it.”

The McIntosh High School construction class has made several projects throughout the year that will be available for purchase. The project they are most proud of is the playhouse.

Students use Math to prepare their Spring Garden

Students use Math to prepare their Spring Garden

FAYETTEVILLE -- (submitted by Melinda Berry-Drieshbach) A bright sunny day and some math was all it took to get the garden behind Rising Starr Middle ready for spring planting.

Exceptional students in Holly Monahan’s class have been maintaining the garden for several years, growing both vegetables and flowers. This year they got some help with soil preparation from Natalie Fields’ math students. The students calculated the area of each planter box to determine the proper amount of fertilizer neeed before planting.

School Superintendent Jeff Bearden happened to be visiting the school and got a quick lesson from the students on the calculations and the garden. Pictured (left to right) School Superintendent Dr. Jeff Bearden, Hayden Long (behind planter), Kevin Khadkhodaian and Wright Hood.

Community Safety Reminder – Report Suspicious Activity

Community Safety Reminder – Report Suspicious Activity

PEACHTREE CITY – (PTC Updates) A burglary incident last week in a Peachtree City neighborhood reminds us all to be vigilant in reporting suspicious activity to the Police Department. The Peachtree City Police Department reminds all residents of these basic crime prevention tips:

  • Keep doors (home, garage, out buildings, and vehicles) closed and locked at all times - even when you're home.
  • Turn garage door openers off at night. Most newer models have a switch on the wall control to either lock the system down or turn the power off.
