Bret Michaels coming to The Fred

PEACHTREE CITY, Ga. -- Poison frontman Bret Michaels will perform at the Frederick Brown Jr. Amphitheater later this month.

Michaels has sold 25 million records during his career with Poison and recorded 15 Top 40 singles, including "Something to Believe In," "Nothing But a Good Time" and "Every Rose Has Its Thorn."

As a solo artist, Michaels has released two albums -- Songs of Life (2003) and the Americana-flavored Freedom of Sound (2005). He has also appeared on a number of television shows, including "Rock of Love" and the third season of "Celebrity Apprentice," which he won.

Rep. Matt Ramsey named Guardian of Small Business

Rep. Matt Ramsey named Guardian of Small Business

PEACHTREE CITY, Ga. -- A Republican state representative from Peachtree City recently received the Guardian of Small Business Award from the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB).

Rep. Matt Ramsey was recognized for his pro-business voting record and work on House Bill 47.

The Guardian of Small Business award is the NFIB's highest honor for legislators.

"Matt Ramsey earned this award for his steadfast support for small business and his strong leadership on issue important to entrepreneurs in Georgia," said Kyle Jackson, Georgia director of NFIB.

HB 47 allows insurance companies licensed in Georgia to sell accident and health insurance policies that are approved for sale in other states. The bill was signed into law by Gov. Nathan Deal and went into effect last July.

I set personal goals for myself on a daily basis. I come up with a list of goals to pace myself so I can really achieve them. Each task leads me to an ultimate objective or goal. Like for instance, my overall life goals are to be a great mother and own a successful international entertainment empire.

ATLANTA -- Governor Nathan Deal issued a special holiday greeting for Georgia residents on Friday.

As Christmas nears, I wanted to wish every Georgian a merry Christmas and a happy holiday season.

Christmas has a special way of reminding us what is really important: our faith in God, family and the well-being of our fellow man.

But Christmas is not limited to a single season or date on a calendar. These feelings of peace and love are always with us throughout our lives. For many, Christmas serves as a rejuvenation of these values and ideals.

After the gifts are all unwrapped and the candles begin to dim, our spirits will once again be enriched and fully restored.

Atlanta's own Electric Violinist Ken Ford performed live on Saturday, December 10th in front of millions for the 77th annual Heisman Trophy Presentation Presented by on ESPN. A first in the network's history to have a live music performance take place during the Heisman presentation. 

Deal appoints new Ga. EPD director

Deal appoints new Ga. EPD director

ATLANTA -- Jud Turner has been appointed director of the Environmental Protection Division of the Georgia Department of Natural Resources.

The DNR board made the appointment official this week after Gov. Nathan Deal nominated Turner for the post.

Turner replaces F. Allen Barnes, who is leaving to work in the private sector.

Turner is a founding partner in the law firm Turner, Bachman & Garrett LLC and public affairs firm Georgia360 LLC. He was former Gov. Sonny Perdue's lead attorney and represented the governor during negotiations with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service during the state's severe drought.

Turner has also served as general counsel to the Georgia Department of Education.
