PEACHTREE CITY, Ga. -- Local author, playwright and Clayton State University professor Phillip DePoy will make an appearance in Peachtree City this weekend to celebrate the release of his new book.

The novel, A Corpse's Nightmare, is the sixth installment of DePoy's Fever Devilin series. It opens with a bombshell -- Devilin, the narrator, is killed on the very first page. He is eventually brought back to life, of course, but what happens while he's "dead" will keep readers on the edge of their seats.

Berry business students organize charity golf tournament

Berry business students organize charity golf tournament

ROME, Ga. -- Two students at Berry College in Rome are spearheading a golf tournament designed to raise money for a local boy.

The two management majors -- Cameron Rich of Peachtree City and Thomas Johnson of Adairsville -- hope to use the funds raised by the Viking Charity Classic to pay for hospital costs and a car wheelchair system for Ben Masters.

Masters, a student at Coosa High School, suffered a spinal cord injury in a car accident earlier this year. He was an athlete, as are Rich and Johnson, both of whom play for Berry's baseball team.

"[Ben] has a huge heart and had his whole life ahead of him," Rich said. "An injury like this really puts the important things in life into perspective, and I want to do all I can for him and his family."
