Popular soul food restaurant, This is It, has seven locations in and around Atlanta. The restaurant is known for its bold advertisements and signature tag line. O.B.’s BBQ Catfish and Ribs is a popular BBQ restaurant in the area. They get “the best products available in the meat market, baste them with their special recipe sauce and smoke them out back on their hickory smoker”. They also serve fish and shrimp platters and a whole fried catfish. According to OB’s website, they’ve been voted the best in the southeast; we’ll let you be the judge. The restaurant is located at 725 Industrial Boulevard in McDonough.

The Barbecue Kitchen of College Park is the classic southern barbecue watering hole for long time Atlantans. The restaurant looks like it used to be something else; however, no one has been able to determine exactly what it was. Although their pulled pork is the main attraction, the hardworking ladies in the restaurant work hard to keep every patron satisfied and every glass full of their homestyle iced tea. The restaurant is located at 1437 Virginia Avenue in College Park.

Boners BBQ, near Turner Field, is a hoot and not just because of the name. They are now open from everyday from 11:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. during the Braves season. The restaurant is popular for their smoked BBQ meats, which include: Pork back loin ribs, bone-in pork shoulder and everyone’s favorite jumbo sized chicken wings. The restaurant is the official caterer of “The Walking Dead” . The restaurant is located at 634 Fraser Street in Atlanta.

Go down to McDonough and visit The Original Shane’s Rib Shack, which started in 2002. Owner Shane Thompson left his corporate job to open up a BBQ restaurant and make his dream come true. Thompson’s sauce is an age old recipe passed down from his grandfather. The restaurant has locations in 14 states and is becoming more popular, everyday.
