Elementary Grand Prix Race Series begins Oct. 4
FAYETTE COUNTY, Ga. -- The Peachtree City Rotary Club has announced the 2014-15 lineup of its popular Elementary Grand Prix Race Series.
The series was started in 2005 as a way to curb childhood obesity in Peachtree City and Fayette County. Every elementary school in the county hosts a 5K to encourage students and their families to run and to lead active, healthy lives.
Last year's series raised about $100,000 for the rotary club and local schools.
Participants earn points at each race; the higher they place in their age groups, the more points they earn. The top three finishers in each age group will receive plaques and be recognized at a special rotary club reception in May.
This year's schedule includes:
Saturday, Oct. 4
Fayetteville Elementary 5K
(490 Hood Avenue)
Saturday, Oct. 25
Peeples Elementary 5K
(153 Panther Path)
