ATLANTA -- The winners of the 2012 AJC Peachtree Road Race participant lottery were announced Monday.

If you weren't chosen, you still have plenty of other opportunities to run, jog, walk and enjoy a race day in the next few months.

3 more players added to Silverbacks roster

ATLANTA -- The Atlanta Silverbacks have signed two new midfielders and a forward to the roster for the 2012 season.

Nico Colaluca, Jordan Davis and David Santamaria will join the team at its training camp on Thursday.

"We're very pleased to bring back Nico and Jordan and add David to our roster for the 2012 seasn," director of soccer Rodrigo Rios said. "All three of them are technically gifted players who know the league well and can add great depth to our team."

PEACHTREE CITY, Ga. -- Open registration for the Peachtree City Lazers Soccer Youth and Adult Leagues is currently taking place.

To sign up, visit www.ptclazers.org or attend one of three registration and uniform-buying times:

* Tuesday, Jan. 10
6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.

* Tuesday, Jan. 24
6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.

* Saturday, Jan. 28
1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

All three registration events will take place at the Kedron Fieldhouse and Aquatic Center.

Registration must be completed no later than Jan. 28. Anyone who signs up after that date will be placed on a waiting list; those chosen from the list will be charged a $20 late fee.

Jack Everest, a local Woodstock youth athlete, has had a wildly successful month.  Everest, age 8, placed first in the USA Track & Field Regional Junior Olympic Cross Country Championships which took place in Myrtle Beach, SC this past weekend, on November 19, 2011.  The week before, Jack also earned the #1 spot in the State Championships which was in Peachtree City on November 12, 2001.  The Regional Championship included Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, Maryland, & Washington DC.  Everest won in the 2000 Meter Run CC Sub-Bantam Boys event which encompasses runners born no earlier than 2003.

Jack is not only an accomplished runner–this busy 8 year old does several youth triathlons a year, including the IronKids Alpharetta Triathlon which is the largest youth triathlon in the United States.

Georgia's Rock Ranch autumn festival features NASA corn maze

MACON, Ga. -- America's space program has landed in the heart of Georgia, in a corn field located on a cattle ranch.

Autumn across Georgia brings with it a season for pumpkins, harvests and a huge NASA-styled corn maze located in the midst's of the Peach State.

The Rock Ranch, located northwest of Macon, is a member of the nationwide program Space Farm 7, and the home to a NASA sponsored corn maze depicting a huge astronaut and the NASA logo in honor of fifty years of space exploration.

Space Farm 7 are seven ranches selected by the space agency across America to help promote the science of agriculture for children.

Expect road closures on Sunday as runners discover Atlanta one mile at a time at the Atlanta Marathon and Marathon Relay on Sunday, October 30, 2011. The 26.2 mile urban course starts and finishes at Atlantic Station taking participants on a tour of Atlanta past well-known Atlanta sites and neighborhoods such as Georgia Tech, Centennial Olympic Park, Georgia Aquarium, Turner Field, Grant Park, Oakland Cemetery, Martin Luther King Center, Piedmont Park, Buckhead and the famous Peachtree Road.
