Powerball accelerates to $160M for Wednesday

ATLANTA – The jackpot for Powerball has continued to accelerate. The jackpot for Wednesday’s drawing is at an estimated $160 million to a single annuity winner. Tickets are $1 per play.

The game offers two payment options: the jackpot prize paid over 29 years in 30 graduated payments or the cash option, which is approximately $85 million.

As with all other Georgia Lottery games, proceeds from Powerball will benefit education in the state of Georgia.

Crabapple Lane closed Thursday through Sunday

PEACHTREE CITY, Ga. – Starting today, Crabapple Lane in northern Peachtree City will be closed on the morning of Thursday, July 28 at the Peachtree City Fire Station to allow the installation of a new sewer line and storm drain.

Traffic will be rerouted to access Crabapple Road from Old Senoia Road. Crabapple Lane will reopen for regular traffic on Monday, August 1.

Publix school supply drive to assist Fayette students

ATLANTA -- Parents and teachers know that having the right school supplies can mean the difference between a passing or a failing grade for students.

That's why Publix has teamed up with the United Way and several local partners to host the School Tools for Cool Kids program.

Residents can stop by their neighborhood Publix grocery stores from Monday, July 18 until Sunday, Aug. 14 to purchase and/or drop off school supplies in the School Tools bins.

"We encourage customers to donate school supplies to help . . . children begin the school year on a level playing field," said Brenda Reid, media and community relations manager for Publix.

PEACHTREE CITY, Ga. -- According to the Peachtree City Updates website, "This summer, the Public Works Crews have had to remove several rope swings from the eastern bank of Lake Peachtree. 

This area is a City-owned greenbelt, and rope swings are not allowed. 

Please report rope swings on the eastern bank (along the path) by emailing Public Works  or calling 770-487-5183."
